EMS Certification Courses

Kiser CPR, LLC offers courses on Introduction to EMS. These courses include Public Safety First Aid (Title 22), Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B), and EMT Skills Competency Verification for EMT renewal.

Public Safety First Aid (Title 22)

Our Public Safety First Aid (Title 22) course is designed for Law Enforcement, Firefighters, and Lifeguards.  This course is a basic introduction to EMS and is the minimum requirement for Cal Fire employees and volunteer firefighters.

Prerequisites

None

​

Course Length and cost: 

​

Initial - 21.0 hours, $268.00

Renewal - 10.0 hours, $125.00

Challenge - 5 hours, $125.00 (must be approved by Kiser CPR)​

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive:

 

Certificate of Completion for Public Safety First Aid (Certificate is valid for 2 years)

AHA Basic Life Support Provider Card (Valid for 2 years) **Only Initial students receive this certification.**

State Licensure:

​

This course does not require any additional licensure application. The Certifications received at the end of the course are the "certifications".

Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)

The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Course is an introductory course for Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement. This course builds on the knowledge gained in a Public Safety First Aid Course and may be used in its place for all Law Enforcement and Fire Personnel.

Course Length and cost:

Initial - 60.0 hours, $549.00

Renewal - 12.0 hours, $150.00​

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive:

 

Certificate of Completion for Emergency Medical Responder

AHA Basic Life Support Provider Card (Valid for 2 years) **Only Initial students receive this certification.**

State Licensure:

​

Within 12 months of course completion, students must apply for EMR licensure through SSV EMS. Students must also complete a Live Scan within 60 days of the EMR application through the SSV website. â€‹

​

**Students who attend this program and pass the psychomotor skills but are unsuccessful at the cognitive exam can be take a lesser exam and receive a certification in Public Safety First Aid (title 22). This meets all Cal Fire, Lifeguarding, and Law Enforcement requirements for initial EMS education.**

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) course is the initial entryway into real transport EMS. EMT-Basic Certification is the minimum requirement to work on a 911 ambulance. Students who complete this course will also be eligible to work as Emergency Department Technicians in hospitals.

Course Length and cost: 

​

Initial - 170.0 hours classroom, 24.0 hours clinical, $2,499.00

Renewal - 24.0 hours classroom, $349.00​

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive:

 

Certificate of Completion for Emergency Medical Technician

​

State Licensure:

​

Within 12 months of course completion, students must take the National Registry EMT-B Exam at a local testing facility. Once the exam is completed, the student must apply for State EMT licensure through SSV EMS. Students must also complete a Live Scan within 60 days of the EMT application through the SSV website.
